We are looking for Horticultural Support Workers to join our growing team at Tri-Ffordd in Bretton. You will enjoy all aspects of gardening - whether you love gardening at home or have made a career of it. You will support adults with Learning Disabilities in all aspects of horticulture, woodland management and garden maintenance. You will support people to fulfil existing gardening contracts.

 

We will move to a new purpose built site Spring in 2025 which includes 10 acres of woodland, a nursery and shop. The service also includes a workshop which includes: processing logs and kindling and upcycling pallet wood into an array of artisan products.

 

You’ll be involved in all sorts of activities including mowing and strimming, pruning, making hanging baskets, propagating and growing fruit and veg. Your enthusiasm, creativity and ideas will be valued and acted on – what’s your thing?  Bonsai, terrariums or living frames maybe?!

 

Experience is not essential as we will provide you with support and training to become a confident Support Worker. Hft is a charity that supports adults with learning disabilities. Horticultural day service for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Compassionate, friendly and a positive can do attitude to life and working and building relationships within the community will be part of your day to day role. Driving licence is a must with minibus addition desirable for getting out and about and providing meaningful activities.​

What will you be doing?

  • Giving the highest possible standards of support to learning disabled adults.
  • Sharing your passion for gardening to help develop skills and enjoyment in the people we support
  • Supporting people to discover new interests and attaining personal goals and liaising positively with their families and friends.
  • As a Support Worker, your responsibilities are varied and no two days are the same.
  • As well as providing physical and emotional support you may be needed to support with personal care as well as supporting people with healthcare needs, e.g. taking medication.
  • Everything you do will enable people to have choices about their own lives, providing flexible services that meet people’s needs, and always looking for the best way of doing things.

  • Salary information – £11.90 per hour plus £1000 retention bonus paid during the first 2 years of employment (£250 every 6 months*).
  • Working hours – 8:30am-3.45pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekends and evenings depending on service requirements
