What will you be doing?

The Catering Manager is an exciting new post to oversee Hft’s catering provision across North Wales.

As well as providing good quality homemade food and drinks, the cafes provide a training provision and vocational experience for young people and adults with Learning Disabilities to learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to work in a catering environment.

The role will require the management of three catering offers; two based in Flintshire where you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of established cafes. The Catering Manager will also work with our project development team to develop an exciting new Café in Conwy and any additional opportunities.

The postholder will be responsible for managing all of the frontline colleague’s team, ensuring they maximise opportunities within the cafes. The Catering Manager  will plan and deliver a high quality, profitable catering business alongside a high-quality support provision for people we support. This will be in collaboration with internal and external partners. You will ensure a clear progression plan through services including links with education, supported employment and volunteering in response to their assessed outcomes and agreed care plans.

You will be expected to lead and provide direct support to people with a Learning Disability in the café whilst providing practice leadership to the wider team.

Key accountabilities

  • Ensure that all kitchen operations comply with food safety regulations and standards

  • Manage inventories, including ordering supplies and monitoring kitchen equipment and appliances to ensure they are in good working order

  • Develop and deliver a robust and aspirational training programme to support Adults with Learning disabilities to develop their catering knowledge and experience

  • Handle any issues that may arise, including customer complaints, staff conflicts, and equipment malfunctions

  • Building, growing and maintaining great relationships with peers, key stakeholders, commissioners, internal and external stakeholders based on mutual respect and trust

About you

  • As a minimum, the Catering manager will hold an advance food hygiene certificate (level 4). They should  be willing to work towards a level 4 in leadership and management for health and social care

  • You will have working knowledge of Safer Food Better Business for Caterers’ as specified by the ‘Food Standards Agency’ achieving and maintaining 5 Star Level Food Hygiene Standards

  • You will have knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to adults with Learning Disabilities

  • You will have experience of managing a Catering Business

  • You will have experience of ensuring effective team communications, leading and motivating a team, coaching and mentoring

  • You will have the ability to speak Welsh or the commitment to learning

  • You will have the ability to drive and have use of a vehicle

  • You will have proficient Microsoft Office skills and experience with bespoke IT systems and Rota management systems, such as Access People Planner
